Duties:

The Safety and Health Specialist will be responsible for supporting a Federal Government program in safety and health assessments, documentation reviews, safety processes and programs, observations, and reporting.

  1. Participate in various Environmental, Safety and Health (ES&H) audits, assessments, inspections, and reviews, and support the development and publication of comprehensive reports.

  2. Support the implementation of design reviews, attend project meetings, and develop model reviews for ES&H issues.

  3. Review ES&H Federal and local directives and documents and conduct observations on general industry and construction safety plans based on hazard analysis.

  4. Attend safety briefings, special project meetings, and counterpart meetings.

  5. Conduct ES&H technical reviews, field site reviews and assessments which may require scheduled or unscheduled travel to field sites in Louisiana and Texas.

  6. Research and understand technical requirements from Federal customer and other applicable Federal directives, as well as applicable state and local regulatory requirements.

  7. Support contractor-generated documents, including those required by Federal, State, or local statute or regulation.

  8. Assist with tasks associated with current program, OSHA and CAIRS reporting requirements.

  9. Support the program’s Continuity of Operations Program Plan by fulfilling delegated roles.

  10. Promote safety for all employees, conduct office safety inspections, and prepare monthly safety briefs.

  11. Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in science or related field or five years relevant ES&H experience.

  2. Minimum three years relevant ES&H experience.

  3. Ability to obtain an L (Secret) or Q (Top Secret) security clearance if necessary.

  4. Active relevant certifications or the ability to obtain relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Occupational Safety Specialist (COSS), Certified Safety Auditor (CSA)). 

  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, TEAMS, Access, etc.).

  6. Ability to perform all job functions safely and competently in the office, field or remote location which may include extended periods of walking or standing.
